Paul J. Payant was born and raised in Antigo, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school, he received his undergraduate and law school degrees from Marquette University. Admitted to the State bar in 1984, he returned to his home town to practice law.

Paul primarily practices personal injury law, as well as family law. He also concentrates his practice in estate planning, probate, and general litigation. He is a past board member of the Board of Atttorneys Professional Responsibility (BAPR). He currently serves as a Langlade County judicial court commissioner and is also the Forest County Corporation Counsel, where he performs the county’s civil legal services. He was an adjunct professor at Northcentral Technical College, where he taught business law for a number of years.

Paul is very active in the community: Paul serves on the CoVantage Credit Union Board of Directors. He has also served as past president of the Red Robin Scholarship Foundation, Inc., past board president of the Community Health Foundation, past board member of the Langlade Hospital Board of Trustees, the Green Bay Diocese Board of Education, All Saints Catholic School Foundation, United Way Campaign of Langlade County, Antigo Optimist Club, and Antigo Unified School District Board of Education, and Foundation of the Antigo Unified School District, Inc. Finally, Paul was the recipient of the 2012 Distinguished Alumnus for the Antigo Unified School District.
